(Alexandria-AP)-- A federal grand jury in Alexandria has indicted a former Prince William County prosecutor on charges of obstruction of justice and witness tampering.
John Notarianni is accused of interfering in an investigation while he was in office.
The grand jury alleged that Notarianni and another former Prince William prosecutor, Kelly Latimer, conspired to get Latimer's husband to sign a false document intended to influence a judge. She was living with Notarianni at the time.
Court papers alleged that Notarianni created the document on his office computer in the county courthouse.
Latimer pleaded guilty to obstruction and tampering charges and is serving a 50-month sentence on those and the drug charge.
Notarianni resigned from the Prince William prosecutor's office after 18 years in the job soon after the allegations surfaced.
John Zwerling, Notarianni's attorney, calls the charges "frivolous."
